Kathleen K. (Kasinecz) Norkus

Kathleen K. Kasinecz Norkus, 71, of Port Carbon, passed away early Friday morning at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

    Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret Sauers Kasinecz.

Kathleen was a 1964 graduate of Nativity BVM High School and Empire Beauty School. I addition to being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, she was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville, served on the Church’s food committee for many years and also was a member of  St. John’s Family Guild. She was a retired credit union service representative and a member of the Yorkville Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Matthew   Norkus in 1993 and Mark Norkus in 2012.  

     She is survived by her husband Al with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 4^th, 2017; a daughter, Lynda Norkus Crighton and her fiancée James Quandel; grandchildren, Andrew Crighton and his wife Amanda, Stephanie Crighton and her fiancée Shane Frank and Lily Grace Norkus; a great-grandchild Ava Grace Creighton;  sisters, Ann Lowe and her husband Richard, Peggy Lengel and her husband james and Barbara Powers and her husband John; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. David Loeper on Thursday evening at 8PM in St. John the Baptist Church, Potrtsville. Relatives and friends are welcome to call Thursday evening at the Church from 6PM to 8PM.

      Relatives and friends will meet at the church at 10AM on Friday and proceed to  St. John The Baptist Cemetery for interment. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer contributions to the Matthew and Mark Norkus Scholarship Fund, in care of the Pottsville Area School District, 1501 West Laurel Blvd., Pottsville, Pa. 17901. Contributions will also be accepted at the church on Thursday evening.
