Aldona P. “ Aldy” Butler, 90, of Minersville, passed away early Wednesday morning.
Born in Minersville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emelia Lawski Czwarc.
Aldona was a graduate of Minersville High School. She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Minersville and was a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Minersville. She was a member of the church’s St. Vincent De Paul Society, the Rosary Society and was active in Parish activities and in particular Polish Day.
She was a housemother at the former Ashland Hospital school of Nursing and was retired as an employee of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
She was a member of the Minersville Food Drive, the Polish Women’s Alliance, the Minersville Blood Mobile, a former member of the Minersville Water Authority and the former Minersville Women’s Club. She was active in Democrat politics having served as a committee women, the Minersville Chair person and was a past vice chair person of the Schuylkill County Democrats
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Butler Sr. in 1982; a brother Jerome Swartz and 3 sisters, Celie Miller, and Clara and Lottie Czwarc.
She is survived by 2 sons, Edward Butler, Minersville and Donald and his wife Margaret, Forestville; a grandson, Christopher Butler, Forestville; a special niece Jo-Ann Bobby, Harrisburg; nieces and nephews and many cousins in Poland.
Relatives and friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 9 PM and Saturday morning from 7 AM to 9:30 AM at the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, 139 Spruce St., Minersville at 10 AM Saturday morning. Rev. Leo J. Maletz will officiate. Interment will be in St Stanislaus #2 Cemetery, Minersville.
The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Aldona to the St. Matthew’s Church Memorial Fund or the Church’s St. Vincent De Paul Society.
