David O'Leary Sr.

    David O’Leary, 89, of Orwigsburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday evening at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East .

    Born in Yonkers, New York, he was the son of the late Patrick and Clara O’Leary.

    He was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven. He was retired from the grocery industry. Besides being a devoted husband, dad and grandpa,

He was an avid New York Yankee fan and was also a patriot, having served in the U.S. Army in Panama during the Korean conflict. 

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Marie Mutalipassi O’Leary; his 3 brothers, Edward, Patrick and Joseph and his sister Margaret.

    David is survived by his three children, Barbara Spence, Allentown, David O’Leary and his husband Earl Kemfort, Pottsville, and Patrick O’Leary, Orwigsburg; his sister Edith D’Aquila of Bronxville, New York; six grandchildren, James, Ryan, Patrick, Daniel, Kayla, and Dylan; two great-granddaughters Giada Roma and Ava Marie.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10:30 AM in St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven. Monsignor Edward  Zemanik will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 9:15AM to 10:15 AM. Internment will be in Schuylkill Memorial park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
