Joseph L. Skibiel, 96, of Minersville, passed away Sunday evening at the Gardens at York Terrace Nursing Home. Pottsville.
Born in Minersville, he was a son of the late William and Mary Anascavage Skibiel.
He attended Minersville High school. He retired as a machine operator at Honeywell. He was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Minersville and was a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Minersville.
He was a Marine Corp veteran of World War II and was an Army veteran of the Korean war. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Edward, Vincent and John Skibiel and 2 sisters, Helen Papada and Jennie Sekellick.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Rose Marie Skibiel; a son Joseph and his wife Patricia, Brier City; 2 daughters, Roseann Skibiel, Harrisburg and Theresa Miller and her husband David, Mooresville; 8 grandchildren, Sean, Michael and Josh Neidlinger, Lori Ann Burkert, Christy Ruddy, Joseph Skibiel and William and Rebecca Miller; 7 great grandchildren, Alexander, Blaine and Evan Neidlinger, Daniel and Anna Burkert . Alexandra Skibiel and Isabella Ruddy; 2 brothers, Francis Skibiel and Stanley Skibiel; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, 139 Spruce St., Minersville on Saturday morning from 8:30 AM to 10 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM. Rev Leo J. Maletz will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St Stanislaus #2 Cemetery, Minersville.
