Josephine P. Swantner, 83, of Pottsville, passed away Monday afternoon at her home.
Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph L. and Mary Gallo Bowers.
She was a 1952 graduate of Pottsville High school. She was retired from Bell Telephone Co. after 37 years of service. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minersville, the Women of Evangelica Lutheran Church, the Order of the eastern Star and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Frederick in 1996; a grandson Todd Mistysyn; a sister Frances Stalb and her brother Edward Bowers.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Fred Swantner: 2 granddaughters Erin Chiello and Tara Mistysyn; a grandson Thomas Mistysyn; great grandchildren, Declan Sullivan, Shelby Mistysyn, and Morgan and Chase Alisauckas; 2 sisters, Mary Walther, Bainegot, N.J. Faith Cook, Pottsville; nieces and nephews.
Private Funeral services and interment in Mt. Peace Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances for Josephine be in the form of contributions to the Zion Lutheran Church Improvement Fund, P.O.
