Alana M. Nush, 69, of Minersville, passed away at the Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Sausanavage Botek.

Alana was a 1969 graduate of Minersville High School. She was a nurse by trade, but was the Supervisor of SPD, Central Supply of the former Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville for 35 years. While at Good Samaritan Hospital, she was a member of the Emergency Management Committee and the Central Safety Committee, chaired the Product Evaluation Committee and the Recognition/Celebrations Committee and co-chaired the Sharps Committee. Alana was instrumental in supporting events to generate team building across the organization. Additionally, she spearheaded events as decorating competitions, the Adopt a Family program at Christmas time, and collection drives to support charities and individuals in need. Alana was not only a compassionate nurse who dedicated her career to caring for others, she was a trusted co-worker and friend. Her legacy and strength will live on in the many lives of those she touched. She was a member of the former St. Francis Church, Minersville.

Alana loved to exercise and on her daily walks she and her dog Buddy became friends with everyone on their route. She loved playing the piano and loved listening to her granddaughter play, especially on the holidays. Alana dedicated her free time to her “Little Prince” , her grandson Tryston.

She was preceded by her husband John C. Nush, a son John “Chip” Nush and her companion later in life, Vincent Kalochie.

She is survived by a daughter Laurie Nush, Minersville; a granddaughter Spenser Nush and her fiancée Brett Irwin, Philadelphia and a grandson, Tryston Nush, Minersville; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Kline and her husband Thomas, Minersville and Sharon Poppish and her husband Paul, Illinois; nieces and nephews Jane Kline, Jane Ferris and Sara Walker.
