Aloys “ Bud” Pellish, 79, of Pottsville, passed away late Saturday afternoon at the Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Primrose, he was a son of the late Alex and Anna Polinsky Pellish.
Bud was a 1955 graduate of the former Cass Twp. High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Prior to retirement, he was the owner of the B.P. Supply Co. Inc., Pottsville. He was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville.
He was very active in the community. He was a member of the St. Nicholas Church Choir and the Church’s Holy Name Society. He was a member of the former Byzantine Male Choir, the Minersville Rotary Club, past president of the Pottsville Winter Carnival. Additionally, he was a member of the Catholic War Vets, Knight’s of Columbus Council 431 and the Goodwill Fire Co., Minersville. He was a member of the Schuylkill Express Chapter of the Society for the Preservation of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America and received their Barber Shopper of the Year Award in 2005. He was also a proud member of the Angelo Penn State Camper Crew.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Samuel in 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Mary “Tina” Polansky; a son Mark and his fiancée Linda Lawson, Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Marianne Goodman and her husband Edward, Norwegian Woods; 2 grandchildren, Kristin and Matthew Goodman; a brother Nicholas Pellish and his wife Connie, Pottsville, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Relatives and friends can call from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Thursday at the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St. Minersville. Requim Divine Liturgy will be at 12 Noon in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 415 Front St, Minersville. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family requests remembrances of Bud be in the form of contributions to the St. Nicholas Church Memorial Fund. Contributions will be accepted at the funeral home.
