Arlene Letko Obituary

   Arlene Letko, 87, formerly of Minersville, passed away Tuesday morning at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

         Born in Minersville, she was the daughter of the late John and Stefanie Petarsky Shilcusky.

         She was a graduate of Minersville High School. She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Minersville and  a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Minersville. Arlene was a member of the St. Stanislaus Ladies Sodality and took part in talent shows, Bingo and bake sales. She was always active in her Catholic faith.

       Nana R was a grandmother to everyone. No one ever left her home hungry or starved for a compliment. She loved her grandchildren most of all and followed everything they did. She never missed a basketball, softball or baseball game and was always their best cheerleader. Arlene in her younger years was an avid sports fanatic and outdoorsman. She played women’s basketball and hunted and fished with her father John. Arlene loved to travel with her family to Europe, Hawaii, Disney World and beyond. She also loved to cruise the world with her girlfriends. Nana R will hold a special place in everyone’s heart.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John in 2001 and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Rose Marie Shilcusky.

     She is survived by 2 daughters, Donna Hummel and her husband Ken, Phoenix Park, and Jane Hoenich and her husband Ben, Elizabethtown, Pa.; a son Terry Letko and his wife Cory, Accokette, Md; 5 grandchildren, Jessica Hoenich and her companion Steve O’Neal, Jason Hoenich and his wife Bonita, Mckenzie Buehner and her husband Allan and Marshall Hummel and his wife Rebeccaand Daniel Letko; a graet grandson, Sullivan Buehner; nieces and nephews. 

       Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:30 AM in St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, 139 Spruce St., Minersville. Rev. Leo J. Maletz will officiate. Relative and friends may call at the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville on Tuesday morning from 7AM to 10AM. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
