Bruce Lord Obituary

Bruce L. Lord Sr., 80, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at his home in Llewellyn. Born in Minersville on June 20, 1943, he was the son of the late William J. and Anna C. (Reber) Lord.

A lifelong resident of Schuylkill County, Bruce graduated from Minersville Area High School in 1961 and shortly thereafter, began his career at the First National Bank of Minersville (FNBM) as a teller and bookkeeper. Through dedicated service and certifications from the American Institute of Banking (Anthracite Chapter), he advanced to hold various positions, including upper management roles, within the bank. Additionally, in 2001, Bruce was elected to serve on the FNBM Board of Directors.

He also served as secretary, chief executive officer and board member of the Home Building and Loan Association of Minersville, which provided many mortgage loans to the people of Schuylkill County.

To honor his accomplished 53-year banking career, the Pennsylvania Bankers Association awarded Bruce for his distinguished service by inducting him into their 50-year Club Membership.

Bruce was an active member of the English Evangelical Lutheran Church (Lewis St., Minersville), where he participated in the choir and served on church council and as chairman of the property and finance committees.

He was also a member of the following organizations: Schuylkill Bankers Association, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Pine Grove Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of the Cressona Lodge #222, Royal Arch Mason of Griscom Royal Arch Chapter #219, Beckville Fish and Game Protective Association, Endowment Patriot Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and a life member the Good Intent Hose Company #1 (Llewellyn).

Bruce competitively raced homing pigeons for 40 years with his eldest brother, Donald, as members of the Minersville Homing Club and the Anthracite Concourse Association. He was an avid small-game hunter devoted to breeding and training beagles for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Dr. Michael J. Przywara, and two brothers, Donald W. Lord and Kenneth J. Lord.

Above all, Bruce valued and cherished his roles of husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the center of his life, and his love and jovial presence was the cornerstone of theirs.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marianne (Polinsky) Lord; his children, Lee Ann Cognetti and her husband Leo J. of Coatesville, Lynanne L. Przywara of Pottsville, Bruce L. Lord Jr. and his wife Neliana of Boiling Springs, and Lynda L. Borzak of Bryn Mawr; and his grandchildren, Annelise M. Przywara, Leo S. Cognetti, Marielle R. Przywara, Gianna L. Cognetti, Evan E. Lord, Maria C. Cognetti, and Sofia M. Lord.

Funeral services will be private, and a burial will follow at Mount Peace Cemetery, Minersville.
