Cathleen M. Moran, 73, of Minersville, passed away Friday evening at Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Margaret Carunchio Carroll.
She was a 1965 graduate of St Hubert’s High School in Philadelphia and also a graduate of Pierce College. She worked for the Urban Coalition in Philadelphia, working to provide paid part time jobs to teens. She served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 25 years, retiring as Clerk Typist 3. She was a proud member of AFSCME 2953 representing her fellow employees as AFSCME union steward, later becoming Vice President. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Minersville. She was a member of the former Our Lady Mount Carmel Sodality, a senior citizen volunteer and a CCD teacher for Holy Family Parish.
She was preceded in death by her husband Magisterial District Judge Charles V. Moran Sr. in 2011 and a brother Nicholas J. Carroll Jr.
She is survived by a daughter Cathleen M. Moran and a son Charles V. Moran Jr., both of Minersville; a grandson, Connor Moran and a granddaughter Grace Andrescavage; brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her kindness, courage and warm heart extended to all she met.
There will be no calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM Friday by Rev. Jason Stokes in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury St., Minersville. Interment at the convenience of the family will be in Calvary Cemetery, Hillside. In Lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Community Outreach Program of Holy Family Parish.
