David Sincavage Obituary

David (Dave) C. Sincavage, 76, of Minersville, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hazelton, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Minersville in 1945, he was a son of the late John Cornelius and Agnes (Petrochonis) Sincavage.

He was a retired custodial maintenance supervisor with the Minersville Area School District and was also the custodian of the former St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish Church (which was formerly St. Stanislaus Kostka Church), Minersville.

Dave was #53 and a 2-year letterman lineman on the Minersville Area High School football team and played on the 1963 Eastern Conference Southern Division championship team.  Dave was also a coach for the Minersville Little League, the Minersville Teener League and re-organized the Minersville Legion baseball program, taking them to the playoff series.  Dave was an avid hunter and enjoyed many trips to his hunting camps.  His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and grand-dog, who affectionately called him “Pop Pop.”  Dave will be remembered for always having a smile on his face and having a good word to say about everyone.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by a brother, John C. Sincavage, and a sister, Mary Sincavage.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Barbara Magic; a daughter, Krista Stewart and her husband, Thomas, Malta, NY; a son, John Sincavage and his wife, Megan, Minersville; a mother-in-law, Mildred Magic; a sister, Julia Weigand; a sister-in-law, Nancy Washinsky, and her husband, Michael, Hazleton; a niece, Jodi Lenko, and her husband, Jason, Hazleton; a nephew, Michael Washinsky, and his wife, Gillian, Durango, CO; a sister-in-law, Pauline Zaharis, Minersville; and grandnieces, Ava and Brynn Lenko; and grandnephews, River and Forrest Washinsky.  Pop Pop will be sadly and most lovingly missed by his grandchildren, Maegan and Matthew Stewart and Zayn Sincavage, and his grand-dog, Chloe, along with the rest of his devoted family.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus #2 Cemetery, Minersville. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held in July of 2022 with a date and place to be named later. Arrangements are by the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, Minersville.
