Elaine E. Butcavage, 82, of Llewellyn, passed away Thursday morning at The Gardens at York Terrace.
Born in Llewellyn, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Clara Snagusky Farrell.
Elaine attended the Branch Twp. schools and was a 1953 graduate of Minersville High School. She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Minersville and a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Minersville. Elaine enjoyed her role as a nurses’ aide at the former Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville, for many years. Among the activities in which she participated were as a member of the Branch Twp. AMVETS Auxiliary and as a Girl Scout Leader for Brownie Troop #26 off Llewellyn.
Elaine loved her Irish heritage. She was devoted to her family and was a chaperone on the many trips associated with the activities of her children. Grammy adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events, dance recitals and other activities. Her greatest wish was fulfilled on March 29th when her great-grandson JJ entered the world healthy.
She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas R. Farrell.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John S. Butcavahe; a son, M. Jay Butcavage and his wife Nancy, Lexington, South Carolina; 3 daughters, Lisa Paul and her husband Gary, Llewellyn, Jane Earlosky and her husband Vince, Llewellyn and Kara Perzel and her husband Bryon, West West Terrace; 5 grandchildren, Kylene Powell, Sara Sukeena, Jaryd Earlosky, Michael Perzel and Logan Perzel; 6 great grandchildren, Emma Kate, Olivia and Jesse Powell, Garrett and Alexa Sukeena and newly born Jaryd Earlosky Jr.; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM and on Tuesday morning from 7:30 to 9:30 AM at the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday in St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, 139 Spruce St, Minersville. Rev. Leo J. Maletz will officiate. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
The family would prefer remembrances of Elaine in the form of contributions to the St. Matthew’s Church Memorial Fund or to the Compassus Hospice, 1001 James Dr., Suite B34, Leesport, Pa. 19533.
