J. William Jones, 84, of Minersville, passed away Saturday evening at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
Born in Minersville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ella Kimmel Jones.
He attended the Minersville Schools and was of the Protestant Faith. He was retired from PennDOT and a past member of the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association and the Minersville Goodwill Fire Co. of Minersville.
Bill was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and loved to play Bingo. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
In 2019 he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, the former Carol Reed. He was also preceded by a brother Robert and sisters Arlene Murphy, Blanche Jackson, Grace Tobin and Betty Jasczalt. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by a son William J. Jones and his wife Lisa, Milton, Ga.; 4 daughters, Barbara Arner and her husband Gary, St. Clair, Karen Pellish and her husband Nicholas, Norwegian Woods, Patricia Goodman, and her husband Richard, Brier City and Carol Ann Heydt and her husband William, Adamsdale; 11 grandchildren, Carl Miller III and wife Heather, Brandon Jones, Kaitlyn Herndon and husband Cody, William Jones, Gary Arner III, Nicholas Fleischut, Alex Pellish, Jillian Pellish, Austin Heydt, Alyssa Goodman and Emily Heydt; 4 great grandchildren, Gianna, Miracle, Carly, and Fiona Miller; nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11AM from the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. Rev. Reginald Leibensberger will officiate. Relative and friends can call at the Funeral Home on Friday morning from 9 AM until the time of the service. Visitors are asked to observe CDC COVID guidance. Interment will be in Mt. Peace Cemetery, Minersville.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer remembrances of J. William be in the form of contributions to either the Goodwill Fire Co. 25 North St., Minersville, Pa. 17954 or to the Hillside SPCA, 51 SPCA Rd., Pottsville, Pa. 17901.
