Joseph J. Post

Joseph J. Post Jr. 73 of Pottsville, formerly of Minersville, passed away peacefully Thursday July 24, 2025 at Geisinger St. Luke Hospital Orwigsburg.

Born in Pottsville, January 14, 1952, he was a son of the late Joseph J. Post Sr. and Ella (Schultz) Post.

A 1969 graduate of Minersville High School, he went on to earn his Associate degree from the Ford School of Business in Pottsville. Joe is retired from the Pa. Department of Revenue, Harrisburg where he was employed for 35 years.  He also worked as a Real Estate Agent and Appraiser for Holden Realty.

Joseph was a member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville, St. Michael the Archangel church. He served on the Minersville Borough Council for 16 years and as Mayor of Minersville for 8 years. He was a member of the Rolls Royce Foundation, Harrisburg, where he also served as a R.R.O.C. judge for car shows. Joe was also a member of the Minersville Lions Club and a past President; Ancient Order of the Hibernians, Pottsville; Knights of Columbus Minersville; and Life member of the Goodwill Fire Company, Minersville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Gary Post.

Surviving is his wife of 46 years Mary Ann (Batt) Post; brother Jerry Post and his wife Kimberly of Plains; Sisters-in-law Carol Post of Schuylkill Haven; Joann Lechanic of Pottsville; Brother-in-law Edward Batt of Canada. Niece, great nieces, nephew, and many cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to cousin Jennifer Edwards and Uncle Bob Post for the care they have given to both Joe and Mary Ann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday July 31, 2025 at St. Michael the Archangel RCC, 539 Sunbury St. Minersville, Pa. 17954. Rev. Jojappa Adagatta will be officiating.

Family and friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 am at the church.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Minersville Lions Club or the Pottsville Ancient Order of the Hibernians.
