Joseph F. Wheeler, Minersville, passed away Monday morning at his home.
Born in Minersville, he was a son of the late Richard and Agnes Narish Wheeler.
He attended the former St. Francis Grade school in Minersville and was a graduate of Minersville High School. He was a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, Minersville and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Minersville.
Joe was a member of the Penn State Club and was a member of the “Angelo Penn State Camper Crew”. He was a lifelong member of the Good Will Fire Co. and Ambulance of Minersville. He was also a member of the Harding Deer Club in Lycoming Co.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Richard Joseph Wheeler; and 3 sisters, Elizabeth Wheeler, Mary Lodge and Margaret Cerullo.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Mary Keyso; a son, James and his wife Toni of Kunkletown, Pa.; 2 granddaughters, Jamison and Camaryn ; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday morning from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. Mass of Christina Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury St., Minersville. Fr. Christopher Zelonis will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer remembrances of Joe in the form of contributions to the St. Michael’s Church St. Vincent De Paul Society. Contributions will be accepted at the funeral home.
