Leona Jeanette (Shaw) Pothering, 91, of Llewellyn passed away Tuesday April 4, 2023, at her home.
Born in Pottsville, November 26, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William Earl and Leah (Reber) Shaw.
She attended Schuylkill Haven Schools and worked for Alpha Mills, Schuylkill Haven and the Minersville School district in the Llewellyn Elementary Cafeteria.
She attended local churches and was a member of the Good Intent Hose Co. No. 1 Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael F. Pothering in 2004, brothers William Shaw, John Shaw, George Shaw and Lamar Shaw; 3 sisters Helen Shaw, Bertha Frehafer, La Verne Hughes and Karen R. Pothering wife of Michael Jr.
She is survived by her 2 sons Michael F. Pothering Jr. his companion Christine Myers of Pottsville; Joseph Pothering and his wife Darlene of Llewellyn; Daughter Karen D. Bush and her Fiancé David Stranko of Schuylkill Haven; sisters Dolores Pron of Bethlehem, PA and Emily Mease of Summerfield, FL. ; 6 grandchildren Melissa Maness Pottsville, David Pothering Minersville, Michael Pothering Pottsville, Scott Bush Schuylkill Haven, Bradley Bush Pottsville and Amanda Laubach Llewellyn; 14 great grandchildren Aaliyah and Drake Bush, Kole, Brooke and Aubree Laubach, Jacob, Owen and Nora Maness, Faye and Bode Pothering, Remington Montag, Lincoln, Dawson and Ace Pothering; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday April 13, 2023, from the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St. Minersville, PA 17954 with the Rev. Krista Rehrig officiating. Friends may call from 8:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hillside SPCA, PO box 233 Pottsville, PA 17901.
