Marianne Lord Obituary

Marianne (Polinsky) Lord, 81, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, peacefully at her home in Llewellyn. Born in Pottsville on Oct. 24, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Helen (Yacabusky) Polinsky.

A lifelong resident of Schuylkill County, Marianne graduated from Cass Township High School as salutatorian in 1961. She enjoyed dancing at The Globe in Minersville, where she met her high school sweetheart and lifelong dance partner. After high school, she worked at Van Heusen in the office that managed military accounts, before marrying and starting a family.

As the second eldest of seven children, Marianne was an innate caregiver and nurturer. Affectionately referred to as “Gram” by her immediate family, she devoted her life to being a loving and adoring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She cherished, valued and took pride in these roles and personified the true meaning of selflessness.

Together, with her husband, they built a home they loved — a place that’s at the center of countless family memories, holidays and celebrations. Marianne was also skilled in the kitchen, making everything from traditional Pennsylvania Dutch and Russian Orthodox recipes to yummy, mashed potatoes, sweet tea, Christmas cutout cookies and even rabbit dinners.

Above all, Marianne was the heart of her family. Her kind, gentle and warmhearted presence can’t ever be replaced.

She was a member of the former English Evangelical Lutheran Church, Minersville and Order of the Eastern Star, Orwigsburg Chapter.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Bruce L. Lord Sr., her son-in-law Dr. Michael J. Przywara, and her brother Andrew Polinsky.

She is survived by her children, Lee Ann Cognetti and her husband Leo J. of Coatesville, Lynanne L. Przywara of Pottsville, Bruce L. Lord Jr. and his wife Neliana of Boiling Springs, and Lynda L. Borzak of Bryn Mawr; her seven grandchildren, Annelise M. Przywara, Leo S. Cognetti, Marielle R. Przywara, Gianna L. Cognetti, Evan E. Lord, Maria C. Cognetti, and Sofia M. Lord; her five siblings, Suzanne Machita of Linglestown, Helen Polinsky of St. Clair, Joseph Polinsky of Minersville, Gregory Polinsky of Orwigsburg, and Nicholas Polinsky of Dorchester Center, MA; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private, and a burial will follow at Mount Peace Cemetery, Minersville.

Donations in Marianne’s memory can be made to Trinity Chapel, Buck Run.
