Shirley A. Kostek

        Shirley A. Kostek, 82, of the Minersville Area,  passed away peacefully Saturday morning at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest.   

      Born in Great Falls, Montana, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Joyce Haun Carlson..  

      Shirley was educated in the Great Falls High School.  She was a custodian for over 30 years in the Minersville School District. She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Minersville and worked all of the Church’s Polish days as well as volunteering for other Church functions. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Church of Holy Family Parish where she continued her volunteer work. She also was a volunteer with local Fire Companies with their fundraisers as well as the local gun clubs in particular Muddy Creek Gun Club.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1994, and a brother Ronald Carlson..

     Surviving is a son Kevin Kostek and his wife Rhonda, Forestville; daughter Karen Harley and her fiancée  James Pellish, Jonestown;  3 grandchildren, Craig Kostek, Austyn Harley and Collyn Harley, a great grandchild Bella Kostek; a sister Betty Kilen and a brother Donald Carlson both of Hibbey, Mn; nieces and nephews.  

    Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 AM from the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. Rev. Leo J. Maletz will officiate. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM and on Thursday Morning from 8AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.
