Thomas M. Schenck, 92, of Pottsville passed away Monday morning at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late William A. Schenck and Gertrude Schaeffer Schenck.
He was a 1948 graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and a 1957 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He also spent time with the Peace Corps in Malawi, Africa. He was employed with variety of defense contractors, Bendex, Sperry Gyroscope, Gruman, Burroughs, the Naval Air Development Center and Martin Marietta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife Marge Schenck, a daughter Linda: a brother William J. Schenck ; and 3 sisters, Miriam Evans, Grace Brady and Rosalia Campion.
He is survived by a son John T. Schenck, Cressona; 2 daughters, Janet Whitney, Milford, De. and Laura Cortright, Milford, De and son-in-law Paul Cortright; 2 grandsons, Justin and Collin Whitney; 2 granddaughters, Kellie and Charli Cortright; 2 great grand daughter Kallie Whitney and Delaney Whitney; a great grandson Harrison Whitney; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville on Saturday at 11AM. Interment with Military honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions to AseraCare Hospice, 7660 Imperial Way, Unit 140, Allentown, Pa. 18195.
