Nicholas Pellish, 74, Pottsville, passed away early Monday morning at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Alex and Anna Polinsky Pellish.
He was a 1962 graduate of the former Cass Twp. High School. He worked at Wearever Pen & Pencil, Penn Reel in Hegins and was a retired electrician from Ft Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pa. He was a Vietnam era Army veteran. He received a Kidney transplant at the Hershey Medical Center in September of 1995. He and his wife Connie celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on October 7th, 2017.
Nicholas was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville. He was a member of the church’s Holy Name Society, the St. Nicholas Choir, a lifetime member of the Goodwill Fire Co., Minersville and was a member of American Legion Post 544.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Aloys (Bud) Pellish in 2017 and Samuel Pellish in 2014 and a son-in-law Albert Schulze.
He is survived by his wife, the former Connie Scheibley; a son Nicholas A. Pellish and his wife Karen, Pottsville and a daughter Michelle A. Schulze, Pottsville.; grandchildren Zachary Garland, Alex and Jillian Pellish and Allyson Schulze; sister-in-law Tina Pellish, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and close friends, especially his buddies at their favorite meeting table at Dunkin Donut.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11AM from the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. Requiem Divine Liturgy will be at 11:30 AM Monday in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 415 Front St, Minersville. Rev. Petro Zvarych will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday morning from 8AM until the time of the service. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.
The family would prefer remembrances of Nicholas in the form of contributions to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Memorial Fund or to the Kidney Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, 900 South Arlinton Ave., Suite 134A, Harrisburg, pa. 17109. Contributions will be accepted at the funeral home.
